Week 03 The Final Prototype Update

The Final Prototype Update

Added Train Mechanics:

The trains got a visual overhaul, moving from grayscale to colour. In addition to this the we layed carpet in our wagons, giving our daily commuters a visible sense of direction during their journey.

On top of this upgrade, the walls are now also individually destructible, offering a nice sense of safety, albeit temporarly.
The trains now also move relative to each other, so your view of the people travelling opposite from you isn't as static. And if that wasn't enough, we also made them wobble! All of this purely for maximum travel enjoyment, ofcourse.

And for the daredevils amongst you, there is now also a cargo train that will occasionally ride along us, this can be used to pay your neighbour train a visit.

User Interface:

A new addition to the game is an UI, you'd be surprised how useful having one is. It keeps track the remaining lives of each time on the side, and has a score meter in the middle. This score has been purposfully been initiated as -6, just so you already have something to look forward to for next week's patch!

And if that wasn't enough, we even made it so that when the opposite team runs out of lives, you'll get an endscreen which reads out which team has won.

Camera:

We added a more dynamic camera that adapts to keep all players on screen, this means you can potentially get the pleasure of beholding the entire train at once!

Premium Beta Functions:

Strafing! You can now attempt to strafe by using the arrow keys in addition to the wasd controls, the result of doing so might not be what you expect and we are not held accountable for any accidents caused by this.

On top of this you get to test out melee weapons with animation, but actually not. It is somewhere in the files but it's not in working condition. If you somehow manage to make it work, please send us the fix through pigeon mail, we'd love to implement it in our next patch. For now, you can look at your character holding a stick.

Bugfixes:
- Fixed exception with invalid actor in camera class.

- Reduced social anxiety of the middle cargo train, so that it doesn't move when you walk into it.

- Cleaned up project and errors related to dependencies.

- Fixed doglike collision behavior of the weapons, so that you are taking the weapon on a walk and not the other way around.

- Fixed bug with function not being accessible in blueprint.
