Week02_Prototype


So let's start with the changes compared to the previous version:

-The game now gives off the illusion that the trains are moving

-Added a moving train

-Players each have their own colour

-jumping off the train onto the ground will respawn the player

-Bullets cannot harm the train of your team

-adjusted the bullet damage 

-adjusted train health


4 questions we asked ourselves this week:

Is the current camera what we want? 

Is the bullet/health balance okay?

Which features are essential to the project?

Should we make our trains move or just give the illusion?


Awnsers we found while developing the prototype:

The current camera is adequate enough for the prototype, it does what it needs to do

Bullets now do less damage and the trains have more health so that the game lasts a bit longer

For the prototype the most essential features are the player movement ,weapon mechanics and train implementation

We decided to go for the illusion since making them actually move had no real purpose


Problems we experienced during the prototype:

The rotation of the character movement still has a few issues

Players jumping off the train get put back on their respawn point but don't lose any lives 


What went well:

The player can not damage his own train anymore

Bullets now get immediately destroyed on impact so that you can't run into them

The illusion that the trains are moving feels real 


What will we be doing over the course of the next week:

Build the prototype from scratch and start writing clean and performant code

Implement some extra features like a little bit of camera movement and making the trains move a bit back and forth
